Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how Writebars collects, uses, and protects your information. We only store what we need to operate the lyric-writing workspace and give you control over your data.

Information we collect

  • Account details: We receive your email, name, and profile image from Clerk when you sign in so we can identify your account and apply your subscription status.
  • Writing projects: Songs and project content you save in the app are stored in our Cloudflare D1 database so you can access and edit them later.
  • Usage and billing: We track counts for rhyme, wordplay, synonym, and grammar tools to enforce plan limits and to display your Usage & Limits dashboard. Billing events from Clerk update your subscription status and period dates.
  • Technical data: Basic logs (such as request timestamps and errors) help us keep Writebars reliable and secure.

How we use your information

  • Operate the editor, save your writing, and provide AI suggestions tied to your selected language.
  • Show your Usage & Limits page and enforce fair-use limits for free and Pro plans.
  • Manage subscriptions, renewals, and access to Pro features.
  • Protect the service, investigate abuse, and improve reliability.

Cookies & analytics

Writebars uses essential cookies for authentication and to keep the app functional. For visitors in the EU, we present a consent banner so you can decline optional analytics cookies. Your choice is stored for a year and can be changed any time by clearing the cookie or using the banner when it reappears.

Data retention & security

  • Project content and usage records stay in our Cloudflare D1 database until you delete your account data or remove individual projects.
  • We use industry-standard encryption in transit and restrict database access to the systems that need it to run Writebars.
  • Subscription metadata is refreshed from Clerk webhooks when your plan changes or renews.

Your rights & controls

  • Access and portability: Use the “Download your data” control inside the Usage & Limits page to export your projects, account record, and usage history as JSON.
  • Update: Edit your profile information in Clerk and it will sync to Writebars.
  • Delete: Remove projects individually or contact support to delete your Writebars account data.
  • Consent: EU visitors can accept or decline analytics cookies through the consent banner.
